Dean and Dean’s Office

The Dean, Associate Dean and Head of Administration jointly form the Office of the President. Their work together is defined by cooperation and collegiality. Within the context of its duties set forth in the university bylaws, the leadership team acts independently. It is bound in its activities to the mission statement of the sponsoring foundation.

Prof. Dr. Michael Frenkel, Dean

The Dean heads the University and represents it publicly. He is responsible for ensuring that the defined activities of the university are properly carried through, and that the mission of the University is upheld. The Dean regularly informs the sponsoring foundation about significant developments, plans and other such information concerning the University.

Prof. Frenkel has been the Dean of WHU since 2005, and has held the Chair for Macroeconomics and International Economic Policy since 1993.

Prof. Dr. Markus Rudolf, Associate Dean

The Associate Dean supports the Dean in the performance of his duties and acts as his deputy. The main areas of responsibility, for example for programs, are divided between the Dean and Associate Dean. They are supported in this by the “Academic Directors” of each program.

Prof. Rudolf has been the Associate Dean of WHU since October 2009, and has held the Dresdner Bank Chair of Finance since 1998.

N.N., Head of Administration

The Head of Administration is responsible for preparing and executing the budget. He ensures that the university administration runs smoothly and efficiently.
