25.05.2010 | DFG continues to support research at the WHU: Follow-up application granted at the chair of Taxation and Accounting (Prof. Schanz)

The Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (German research foundation) decided to extend funding for the research project: „Der Einfluss von Steuersystemen auf die Ausschüttungspolitik von Kapitalgesellschaften – Eine empirische Analyse der Länder Deutschland, Schweiz und USA“ at the Chair of Taxation and Accounting by Prof. Dr. Deborah Schanz for two additional years.

With this continued grant, Prof. Schanz persisted in the tight competition for DFG funding, where, in the field of Economics, only 25% of all research proposals are accepted. The WHU is the only private University in Germany that is a member of the DFG.

In an international setting, Prof. Schanz and her team analyze empirically, how the fact of differential taxation of dividends and capital gains may influence the distribution policy of corporations and their value.

The results of the project is, on the one hand, of interest for managers optimizing their payout policy, on the other hand it proves useful for a government trying to anticipate the reaction of managers to future tax reforms.
