WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management, hereinafter called WHU, is pleased that you are visiting our Website. It is of great concern to us that your personal data are protected when they are processed and we want you to feel safe and secure while you are browsing through our Internet pages.
We would now like to explain which information we collect at the WHU when you visit our Website and how this information is used.
Personal data means any information concerning the personal or material circumstances of an identified or identifiable individual. This includes information such as your correct name, your address, your telephone number and your date of birth. Information not directly connected with your real identity – such as favourite Web pages or the number of users on a site – is not personal data.
When you visit our Website, the communication data of the requesting computer, the Web pages you visit on our site, the date and the duration of the visit, the data identifying the type of browser and operating system used, and the Website from which you visit us are temporarily stored by default by our Web servers for the purposes of system security. Personal details over and above this, such as your name, your address, telephone number or e-mail address, are not captured, unless you give this information of you own free will, e.g. when you wish to register, as part of a survey or a competition, to arrange a contract, or you request information.
If you have provided us with any personal data we only use these data for technical administration of our Web pages and to respond to your wishes and requests, which as a rule means to process any contract concluded with you or to reply to any queries you may have. Only if you have given us your consent beforehand or if you – subject to it being provided for under statutory regulations – have not raised an objection, do we also use these data for product-related surveys and for purposes of marketing. Your personal data are not disclosed, distributed, sold or communicated in any other way to third parties unless it is necessary in order to fulfil a contract or you have given your express consent.
The WHU takes all the necessary technical and organisational security measures to protect your personal data against loss and misuse. Your data are stored in a secure operating environment for example, which the public cannot access. If you wish to contact the WHU by e-mail, we would draw your attention to the fact that the confidentiality of the information transmitted cannot be guaranteed. Third parties can view the contents of e-mails. We therefore recommend that you send us confidential information only by post.
If you submit a request in writing we will tell you what personal data we have stored on you (e.g. name, address).
Please contact the WHU's Data Protection Officer if you have any questions concerning the processing of your personal data. You can also contact him and his team if you would like any other information, or have suggestions and comments, or if you wish to make a complaint.
