Financial Aid & Tuition for the Master of Science

Inability to pay the tuition fees has never prevented anyone from attending WHU. An applicants personality and ability to perform are taken into consideration for admissions, not the social background. WHU offers students a series of financing options in order to ensure that everyone who has been successful in obtaining admission can study at WHU.

Tuition for the Master of Science in Management Program starting in September is €19,800. A non-refundable fee of €90 is charged for processing applications.

Financial Aid Offers at WHU

Reduced tuition

Students with income and assets of up to €7,670 above the BaföG limit per year (attributable income and assets equivalent to the BaföG assistance limit) may be eligible for reduced tuition. There is a set total amount available for tuition reduction. The amount of the reduction is thus determined by the number of eligible students.

Application for a reduced tuition has absolutely no impact on the selection or admission process. Members of the examination commission have no knowledge concerning the status of applicants.

The In Praxi – Diversity – Scholarship

In Praxi – the WHU Alumni Association has launched the In Praxi – Diversity Scholarship. Its purpose is to help young qualified applicants from foreign countries to gain more courage, self-confidence and strength by providing them with financial aid and mental support. At this point, up to 5 scholarships, covering 50 percent of WHU’s tuition, can be offered to students who won’t be able to finance their studies on their own. In order to apply students need to hand in a letter of motivation. Of advantage are documents indicating the need for financial support as well as a letter of recommendation from a faculty member of the former university.

Ivanna Naruben BlackRock Scholarship

The Ivanna Naruben BlackRock Scholarship supports dedicated students from Eastern Europe aiming at participating in the WHU Master of Science-Program (MSc-Program).

Ivanna was a young, committed and much appreciated colleague of BlackRock who died in a tragic accident. The scholarship gives students the possibility to realize their educational aims with the MSc-Program at WHU. Part of this scholarship is an internship with BlackRock.

Loan program

Moreover, WHU offers further assistance in the financing of studies to the extent that it can. For this purpose, the university has arranged low-interest loans for students with Sparkasse Koblenz, which are available to all WHU students without special collateral requirements. The student agreement is adequate as security for the bank.

WHU Brain Capital GmbH

In 2006, a new and innovative funding program has been developed by WHU alumni: the “Inverse Generation Contract”.
Students who have been offered admission to the WHU Master of Science Program and who are in need of financial support or wish to finance their graduate studies on their own, may apply for this funding. The “Inverse Generation Contract” enables students to concentrate on their studies without worrying about the financials. The repayment depends on gross income once the students start their professional life. Therefore, the final “tuition fees” are proportional to the achievements in the jobs.

Terms of Offering:
„Inverse Generation Contract“ participants do not pay tuition fees and interest during their studies. Besides the financial support WHU Brain Capital offers a special mentoring program to the participants.

Terms of Repayment:
4% of gross income over a period of 10 years; however, the maximum payment is capped. No payment obligation in years of low income (e.g. during Ph.D. studies, child care, business start-up); in those cases, the period of repayment is extended to a maximum of 20 years.

Additional Scholarships

As a result of the selection process, WHU students have a good chance of acceptance in a scholarship program. Nearly 20 percent of WHU students are funded by a grant or endowment (BSc and MSc-Program). Seven percent are scholarship recipients from the German National Academic Association (Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes). Also the following foundations support WHU students:
