1. For whom is the Part-time MBA program designed for?
The program is designed for “young professionals” in various sectors who have at least two to five years professional experience and who want to broaden, enhance, or build their knowledge in the fields of business administration and economics. The fundamental idea of the program is to allow these high motivated professionals to develop leadership skills over the course of an international program, and prepare them for management roles in their companies.
2. Is WHU Part-time MBA Program accredited?
Yes. WHU’s MBA programs have gained accreditation from three renowned accreditation institutes: AACSB, EQUIS and FIBAA. Constant monitoring of WHU’s quality level as an international business school guarantees that the programs meet certain criteria of excellence and have been reviewed by objective and savvy third parties. Currently, WHU- Otto Beisheim School of Management is a leading Business School in Germany and ranks in the top league of European Business Schools.
3. What is the academic structure and schedule?
The two year Part-time MBA Program is structured comprehensively along the lines of the Full-time program held on the WHU campus, Vallendar and is divided into study modules- namely core, concentration and personl leadership The core modules covered in the first year encompasses general management areas. In the second year, the students have the chance to deepen their knowledge of marketing, finance, supply chain management, strategy and innovation within the course of the concentration modules. The program finishes with the final stage of the leadership module, consisting of various seminars distributed over the duration of the program. Approaches to this topic consist of lectures and highly interactive discussions with renowned speakers from the academic and the corporate world. Formulating their own leadership credo – formula or system of leading – impacts their management capacity.
4. What are the International Modules?
International modules are organized to offer our students a deeper understanding of the global business situation. During one residential week each in the USA, China and India they will get insight into business opportunities and manage¬ment challenges in different parts of the world. Customized lectures given by senior faculty members of our renowned partner schools cover sensitive issues that are relevant to the local business environment. Company visits develop a deeper understanding of management in emerging markets.
5. How many ECTS credits does the Part-time MBA program consist of?
The Part-time MBA is a part of the ECTS system. A fully completed WHU Part-time program consists of 90 ECTS credits. For further information please contact the Part-time MBA team.
6. When do the classes usually take place?
The lectures take place usually on weekends, either on Saturdays or Saturday/ Sundays from 9:00 h to 17:00 h (coffee and lunch breaks included). There are a number of group rooms available to participants during the whole day for any incidental group work. Lecture days might be extended by additional soft skills training, information sessions or guest lectures.
7. Where in Düsseldorf do the lectures take place?
After an introductory week at the home campus in Vallendar, the program lectures are held on weekends at the NOVOTEL CITY-WEST conference hotel in Düsseldorf. For the NOVOTEL CITY-WEST site directions, click here.
On September 2012, WHU’s first external campus ‘Schwanenhöfe’ shall open up in Düsseldorf. This location will be characterized by diversity, creativity, and innovation through a variety of different industries - values that WHU identifies with.
8. Do the students also study at home campus in Vallendar during the course of the program?
Absolutely. To encourage a deeper bond with the WHU campus in Vallendar, students will visit the campus on various occasions such as the kick off week( the start of the program) in the first academic year, Leadership and Strategy Module contents in the second year.
9. Which industry/sector do the participants usually come from?
Expect the participants to come from various industries and educational backgrounds. Diversity in every aspect is a focus during the entire recruiting period. This is why Düsseldorf as a business hub with international connections was a main reason for the election for our new office and campus.
10. How many participants are there in one Part-time MBA class?
The current class consists of 36 participants with an average age of 30. The intended target for future class years will be around 40 participants.
11. How do participants get prepared for the courses?
For each module content, the students receive a “course package” in hard copy format prior to the start of the professor’s lecture, containing all necessary information and readings (such as articles, cases and books) for the preparation of the course. Simultaneously, the course package is also available for download and online reading via the WHU student portal.
12. How much time should be planned for studies beyond the classes?
On an average, a daily study routine of two hours could be estimated for the duration of the Part-time MBA Program. This, of course, varies from one student to another, and is dependent on individual time management skills.
13. Is it possible to attend a sample lecture?
Yes. You are welcome to audit a lecture of our Part-time MBA Program in Düsseldorf or of our Full-time MBA Program at WHU in Vallendar. With this you will get a precise impression of the program’s teaching and learning style along with having the opportunity to meet and talk to current students about the study and its contents. 14. Are there any information sessions or events planned to encourage a direct interaction with the team and faculty?

16. Does WHU have an alumni network?
Within the WHU alumni organization, the former WHU students have maintained a close relationship with the university and among themselves by offering regular financial and moral support. “In Praxi e.V.”, the WHU Alumni organization, now has strength of over 2,000 members and stands for a robust WHU culture.
1. What are the admission requirements for the WHU Part-time MBA Program?

• A reference letter from a professor or supervisor

2. How do I apply?
You should complete the following online application form, attach you current CV as well as copies of your university degree. The Admissions Committee will then review your application and, if eligible, invite you to two personal interviews. Following this, if you have been admitted to the program you will receive a written notification offering you a place in the Part-time MBA program.
3. Is GMAT mandatory?
Yes. However, the GMAT may be waived in exceptional cases based on the high credentials of a candidate (qualifications, work experience etc). This decision will be based by the admission committee after the interviews, at the latest.

4. Do I need a TOEFL?
Yes. TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) is necessary to ensure that the participants’ English skills are sufficient to cope with the program’s written tests and activities, as expected by the instructors in the program. In exceptional cases (studies in an English speaking country, our interviews with the candidate), it may be waived.

5. Is there an application deadline?
The program starts each year at the beginning of September. However, applications are accepted and assessed throughout the year. We encourage you to apply as early as possible, as incoming applications are processed on a first-come, first-served basis and the numbers of seats are limited. Your application should be submitted, and the required interviews conducted, no later than six weeks before the beginning of the program.
6. How much does the program cost?
The total fee for the two-year Part-time MBA Program amounts to € 39,000.
The program fee includes:
• All tuition fees
• Course materials including textbooks
• Accomodation and full board during the international modules
• Accomodation, on-campus meals and refreshments during the kick-off week at WHU in Vallendar
• Meals and refreshments on lecture days in Düsseldorf
The program fee does not include airfare and other travel expenses.
Terms of Payment:
• Upon acceptance of the candidate, a non-refundable deposit of € 5,000 is to be paid.
• The first installment of € 17,000 is due at the start of the program in September.
• The second installment of € 17,000 is due on 1st September of the following year.
Payment should be made after having received the corresponding invoice.
