Objectives

The IMC is using the WHU Controller Panel to pursue four objectives:

  • Determine benchmarks and best practice recommendations
  • Identify long-term trends in key areas of controllers' activities
  • In-depth research and improved analysis of current issues of interest
  • Encourage regular exchange of information between research and practice. This is a general objective of the IMC

In order to fulfil the first two objectives, the participants of the WHU Controller Panel take part in an annual panel survey that tracks benchmarks for all relevant core areas of a controllers' activities. The annual survey makes it possible to identify and highlight trends as they occur over time, while the benchmarks provide an important reference point for optimizing controlling activities.

Regarding the third objective, up to two additional surveys are carried out each year on topics of particular current interest. The findings of these studies are presented in a practice-oriented context enabling you to adapt your controlling activities to the latest findings.

The discussions and lectures which take place at the annual Campus for Controlling at WHU are particularly useful for the effective exchange of information between researchers and practitioners.
