The Institute:

The Institute of Management Accounting and Control (IMC) at WHU is a leading research institute in the area of management accounting and control. Under the joint directorship of Prof. Dr. Utz Schäffer and Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Jürgen Weber, the Institute bundles the numerous teaching and research activities of the associated professors and doctoral students. The IMC also stands for close collaboration with well-known partners in academia and industry.

Your challenge:

As a member of our research team, you will address challenging questions in one of two areas of management accounting research: In our research group "TMT Impact" we try to understand how top management team characteristics and Management Control Systems interact. In our second research group "Institutionalization" we aim to contribute to research on the institutionalization of Management Control Systems in organizations. In both groups, you will have the opportunity to collaborate on international research projects and publications. In addition, you will work with leading international companies at the Center for Controlling and Management, support our Controller Panel or assist the editorial team of "Zeitschrift für Controlling und Management".

Your profile:

You should have a very good university degree and thesis in business studies or another field, be team oriented, have excellent analytical skills and show enthusiasm for research and academic projects. You are highly motivated and flexible.

We offer an attractive, challenging work environment in which you will be able to write an excellent dissertation over a period of about three years.
