Funding of the university

As a private research university, WHU receives no institutional support from government agencies for teaching and research. The university is supported by the non-profit WHU Foundation (Stiftung Wissenschaftliche Hochschule für Unternehmensführung).

WHU looks back an another successful fiscal year 2010/2011. It invested considerably in its long-term sustainability. Revenues grew by EUR 2.1 million year-on-year to EUR 26.6 million. Expenditures increased by EUR 1.6 million to EUR 25.4 million.

Roughly two-thirds of the funding needs of the university are met by the income generated by the foundation’s capital, by endowments for professorships from companies as well as by other donations from the business world and private individuals. Among the donors are numerous companies, private individuals and organizations. A consistently growing part of the endowments is provided by WHU alumni with whom WHU stays in close contact.
