In the first meeting an overview of possible topics in the field of organization and management will be given. The selected papers will then be presented by the students and afterwards discussed within the group. Learning goals are:
  • Competitive strategy and market organization
  • Strategic management and its relationship to organizational structure
  • Organizational design under moral hazard problems
  • Incentive problems and their impact on the organization
Course description
The seminar uses the concepts introduced in the course 'Theoretical Foundations of Management'. Its objective is to practice and deepen the theoretical knowledge by discussing present-day organizational problems in a sound economic way, i.e.
  • Apply game theory to the analysis of firms' organization and strategy
  • Address issues in competitive strategy, organizational structure, task assignments and incentive systems
