Prof. Dr. Christoph Hienerth wurde im Juni 2012 auf den Lehrstuhl für Entrepreneurship und New Business Development an der WHU - Otto Beisheim School of Management berufen. Er promovierte an der WU Wien, wo er auch seine Habilitation als Assistenzprofessor am Department für Entrepreneurship und Innovation abschloss. Von 2006 bis 2012 hatte er eine feste Stelle als außerordentlicher Professor an der Copenhagen Business School, Abteilung für Innovation und Organisationsökonomie, inne. Professor Hienerth hatte verschiedene Forschungsaufenthalte und Stipendien am Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), der Harvard Business School (HBS), der McGill University und der George Washington University.

Seine Forschungsergebnisse wurden in führenden internationalen und nationalen Fachzeitschriften wie Research Policy, IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, Journal of Product Innovation Management, Long Range Planning, Journal of Organizational Design, Family Business Review, Zeitschrift für Betriebswirtschaft (ZfB) veröffentlicht. Seine Arbeit, sowohl in der Forschung als auch in der Lehre, wurde mehrfach ausgezeichnet. Professor Hienerth hat seine Expertise im Bereich Corporate Entrepreneurship in mehreren Industrieprojekten mit internationalen Unternehmen wie Schindler, Deutsche Telekom, Palfinger, Bayer, MAN, LEGO, Fujitsu, Siemens VDO, SAS, Grundfos und Coloplast erworben. Er hat Grundsatzreferate gehalten und war wissenschaftlicher Berater für Regierungseinrichtungen in mehreren Ländern wie Schweden, Dänemark, Finnland, Großbritannien und der Tschechischen Republik.
