Frau Dr. Marjolein Buisman von der Wageningen Universität, Niederlande, wurde vom WHU Senat und dem rheinland-pfälzischen Kultusminister für diese Position berufen.
Im Jahr 2013 gründete Gunnar Froh in Hamburg die Firma Wunder Mobility. Wunder Mobility unterstützt Start-ups, Unternehmen und Städte auf der ganzen Welt bei der Einführung und Ausweitung von Shared Mobility Services. 2019 schloss Wunder Mobility eine 60-Millionen-Dollar-Finanzierungsrunde ab, um seine städtische Verkehrsplattform in den USA auszubauen.

Wharton-WHU Global Supply Chain Benchmark Study
Die große Frage für operative Führungskräfte: Offshoring, Nearshoring oder Reshoring?
Nach jahrelangem kostengünstigen Offshoring ist insbesondere in den entwickelten Ländern eine öffentliche Debatte über die Zukunft der Fertigung entbrannt, da bekannt wurde, dass einige Unternehmen ihre Fertigung „Reshoren“, also zurück nach – oder näher an – Regionen wie Nordamerika oder Westeuropa verlagern. Zwar gibt es zahlreiche individuelle Berichte über derartige Entscheidungen, doch zu den spezifischen Beschaffungsentscheidungen für die Lieferketten wurden bislang kaum empirische Analysen zur Ermittlung aktueller Trends, Einflussfaktoren und Auswirkungen durchgeführt. Diese Fragen wollten wir mit der Global Supply Chain Benchmark Study beantworten. Ziel der Studie ist es, aktuelle Praktiken unter Berücksichtigung der drei folgenden Fragen zu vergleichen:
- Welche globalen Beschaffungsentscheidungen wurden getroffen und welche Entscheidungen werden ins Auge gefasst?
- Welche Faktoren beeinflussen diese Entscheidungen?
- Welche Auswirkungen wurden festgestellt oder erwartet?
Die globalen Lieferketten ändern sich: Unsere Stichprobe zeigt uns dazu Genaueres
In den letzten beiden Jahren haben wir in Zusammenarbeit mit Akademikern führender Wirtschaftshochschulen in den Vereinigten Staaten und Japan führende globale Fertigungsunternehmen aus Nordamerika, Westeuropa und Ostasien zu ihren aktuellen Beschaffungsentscheidungen in der Fertigung befragt. Unsere Analysen ergeben Erkenntnisse, die zum Teil überraschen und zum Teil die allgemeine Wahrnehmung bestätigen:
- Aktuell nehmen viele Unternehmen eine Umstrukturierung ihrer globalen Fertigungsbasis vor. Unsere Forschung zeigt, dass Firmen aus allen Branchen und Bereichen tatsächlich ihre Lieferketten global neu aufstellen.
- Eine vorherrschende Strategie lässt sich dabei nicht ermitteln: Die Firmen treffen aus den unterschiedlichsten Gründen eine breite Palette an Entscheidungen.
- In unserer Stichprobe gehen nach wie vor branchenübergreifend 45 % der Investitionen für Fertigungsvolumen nach China. Die treibenden Kräfte haben sich jedoch verändert. Nicht nur bei der Entscheidung für eine Investition in China sind Marktnähe und lieferkettenspezifische Faktoren von wachsender Bedeutung. Unternehmen, die das Lohnkostengefälle ausnutzen wollen, verlagern die Fertigung von China in den ASEAN-Raum.
- In Nordamerika gibt es Anzeichen für eine Rückkehr der Fertigungsbetriebe, allerdings a) nicht in großem Umfang und b) in erster Linie nicht als Reshoring, da 60 % der Fertigungsinvestitionen auf asiatische und europäische Firmen zurückgehen.
- In Westeuropa ist ein Rückgang der Fertigung festzustellen. Westeuropa ist gemeinsam mit Japan die einzige Region, in der die Firmen unserer Stichproben mehr Ausgliederung als Investitionen anführten. Die Mehrzahl der Ausgliederungen in Westeuropa erfolgen aus Kosten- (Verlagerung nach Osteuropa) oder Marktgründen (Verlagerung nach China).

Der Bericht erörtert die Ergebnisse auf globaler Ebene und liefert ausführliche Analysen der Investitions- oder Ausgliederungsentscheidungen in bestimmten Regionen sowie die damit zusammenhängenden Auswirkungen für Arbeitsplätze in der Fertigung. Im Anhang liefern wir ergänzend zu diesen Analysen Einblicke in die Entscheidungen von Firmen aus den verschiedenen Branchenclustern in unserer Stichprobe. Weitere Publikationen auf der Grundlage dieser Studie folgen in wissenschaftlichen Zeitschriften.
