Lebenslauf

Garen Markarian erforscht schwerpunktmäßig die Bereiche Rechnungslegung, Corporate Finance und Private Equity. Seit 2014 ist er Inhaber des Lehrstuhls für Externes Rechnungswesen an der WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management. Gleichzeitig leitet er als Direktor zwei Executive Education Programme der WHU: “Value Creation in Private Equity and Venture Capital” sowie “Risk Management for Executives” (in Kooperation mit der Stockholm School of Economics). Garen Markarian hat bereits an der IE Business School (Madrid), HEC (Paris), Bocconi (Mailand), Concordia (Montreal), Rice University (Houston) und der Case Western Reserve (Cleveland) unterrichtet.

Prof. Dr. Markarians Forschungsergebnisse in den Bereichen Corporate Governance, Managementvergütung, Bankenkrise, Rechnungslegung und Wertermittlung erscheinen regelmäßig in führenden internationalen Fachzeitschriften. Die Publikationen des preisgekrönten Hochschullehrers sind von der American Finance Association und der American Accounting Association ausgezeichnet worden und haben in der Financial Times sowie dem CFO Magazin Erwähnung gefunden.

Vor seiner Berufung an die WHU war Prof. Dr. Markarian als Berater bei Standard & Poors “Society of Industry Leaders” und als “First Regional Economic Officer” der Vereinten Nationen (Western Asia Headquarters) tätig. Prof. Dr. Markarian hat an der Weatherhead School of Management der Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, promoviert.
