Course content
Almost any doctoral student has difficulties with i) focusing on an appropriate research topic, ii) making sure that state-of-the-art methodology is utilized and ii) getting started with writing of an article aimed at a top academic journal. This course challenges students to complete their first working paper on one of a select group of research topics within a period of three months. The instructor provides weekly detailed feedback on early drafts of the paper.
The following list of academic topics is not exhaustive:
- Production and Service Operations Management, including Supply Chain Management
- Management Quality for Industrial Excellence
- Management Science
- Business & Retail Analytics/OM-Marketing Interface
- Sustainability
- Supply Chain Finance/OM-Finance Interface
- Real Options Theory
In our experience, doctoral students who participated in this seminar become much more productive and more effective and have more fun while submitting their papers successfully.
