Health Economics, Policy and Management
The health care market is one of the biggest and most important markets around the world. The US for instance spent 16.9% and Germany 11.2% of their GDP on health in 2018. These expenditures on health are expected to continue to grow due to several reasons, like advanced medical science, ageing of the population, and a shift towards chronic diseases. Health Care is not a regular economic commodity and is widely considered a right, not a privilege. Specific features of health care can easily result in market and/or government failure. Hence, gaining a solid framework in Health Economics, Policy and Management is beneficial for versatile careers ranging from science to business, e.g. in the health insurance, health care or pharmaceutical market.
The Course Health Economics, Policy and Management course (HEPM) will provide you with an adequate framework to understand the health care market, its industries and the (regulating) role of the governments within this sector. Topics will include the market of Pharma and Medical Devices, economics of Health Care Providers, Health Insurance and Digital Health.
