Funding of the university

As a private research university, WHU receives no institutional support from government agencies for teaching and research. The university is supported by the non-profit WHU Foundation (Stiftung Wissenschaftliche Hochschule für Unternehmensführung).

WHU looks back an another successful fiscal year 2015/2016. It invested considerably in its long-term sustainability. Revenues increased by EUR 1.4 million year-on-year to EUR 36.9 million. Expenditures increased by EUR 1.4 million to EUR 36.9 million.

Roughly 60 percent of the funding needs of the university are met by the income generated by the foundation’s capital, by contributions for chairs and further projects from companies as well as by other organizations. A consistently growing part of the endowments is provided by WHU alumni with whom WHU stays in close contact.
