WHU's Institute of Management Accounting and Control (IMC) is a leading think tank in the area of management accounting and control. Under the joint directorship of Professor Marko Reimer and Professor Utz Schäffer, the institute bundles the numerous teaching and research activities of the associated professors and doctoral students. In the annual ranking of PhD programs in the area of management accounting, the IMC currently ranks No. 1 in Europe for the fifth time in a row.

Job Description

Potential Research Questions

  • How will digitalization change tools, techniques, and processes of management accounting and control?
  • How do artificial intelligence and business analytics impact organizational decision-making processes?
  • What is green finance and CFOs’ contributions to CSR?  
  • (How) Can companies manage sustainability?

The topic is chosen in consultation with the dissertation advisor. If you have a research question you are burning for and that falls into our research area, we are, of course, curious to hear your ideas. However, please note that you are not required to apply with a well-elaborated research proposal.
