WHU SensAbility

Founded in 2009, WHU SensAbility is a very young yet fast growing student initiative at WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management that organizes an annual conference centering on Social Entrepreneurship. It is an event created by students for students to interact with social entrepreneurs, learn about sustainability in business and get actively involved with the entire field. Our goal is to raise the awareness of our participants for current societal and ecological problems and show students ways to connect their professional career with social responsibility.  In order to do so, SensAbility invites speakers from different sectors who share their knowledge of and experiences concerning social entrepreneurship. In project workshops the participants will then be able to apply their creativity and entrepreneurial spirit to real-life problems, scenarios and social business models. Our Social-Pitch gives social founders the possibility to get funding and further business relations for their social startup. Furthermore we are offering real career opportunities to our participants with Speed-Dating social entrepreneurs and exchanging contacts at our Career-Fair.

We consider economic sustainability a crucial precondition to achieve positive long-term societal change. This means that projects should be independent from donations or any form of financial aid. However, while we emphasize this idea, we also think that profit maximization does not need to be the primary goal of a company in order to be economically sustainable, but that social businesses can tackle pressing problems in society and still be profitable at the same time.

"Think Social. Act Economically." - This topic will be discussed at the 9th SensAbility conference (April 6/7, 2018) with about 200 participants with international background at the campus of WHU–Otto Beisheim School of Management in Vallendar.
