Best cooperation between trade and industry

The prize money of 20,000 euros was awarded to Professor Dr. Arnd Huchzermeier for the category ,Best cooperation between trade and industry '. The laudation was given by Franz Speer, corporate director of Henkel. Jörg Pretzel, CEO of GS1 Germany GmbH and Dr. Michael Krings, CEO of Douglas Logistik GmbH and Chairman of the Jury of the Academic Partnership justify the selection of the winner as follows: "With your high profile–both scientific as well as practical--research work, you have provided trade and Industry with significant incentives and concrete action plans to develop a future-oriented and collaborative supply chain."

The newly developed promotion management model - for store traffic generators such as Pampers from Procter & Gamble, which are sold regularly and at considerable discount – is based on multiple customer segments, i.e., loyal and deal prone customers who stockpile mostly during promotions. To achieve an accurate forecast of demand, the stocks of households are estimated. The demand is then the difference between the maximum demand at a given promotion price and the estimated household stocks. The production management department of WHU has published a series of scholarly works on price promotions and is currently working intensively on a research project together with the German retailer real,- (of Metro).
