This year’s advisory board meeting of the Center for Market-Orientated Corporate Management (CMM) took place on July 6, on the WHU-Campus in Düsseldorf. The CMM serves as a platform for the exchange of market-orientated questions between science and practice.
As in the past years, Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Hermann Simon started off the CMM advisory board meeting, followed by an intriguing speech of Dr. Kjell Gruner, Chief Marketing Officer of Porsche. In his talk about “the ecosystem of Porsche” Dr. Gruner introduced latest implemented marketing activities and opened up about the impressive future vision of Porsche. The members of the CMM discussed the topic in a positive manner.
Afterwards, Prof. Martin Fassnacht gave an overview of the current developments at WHU, the CMM and the Chair of Marketing and Commerce. Among other subjects Prof. Fassnacht reported the achieved growth of WHU, the good ranking results as well as the excellent accreditations. Furthermore, he talked about the teaching activities at the Chair, which benefit from a large variety of guest lectures and real life case studies in cooperation with companies. Prof. Fassnacht ended his talk with an impressive insight into his press and media work.
For the first time the scientific speech of a Ph.D. student was replaced by a specialist lecture of Prof. Fassnacht about “omni-channel strategies in the digital world”. In his speech he elaborated different distribution channels and innovations such as the Amazon Dash Button or delivery by drones. The topic led to a controversial and rewarding exchange of views between CMM’s members. Finally, the successful day was completed by a joint dinner in pleasant atmosphere at the restaurant “Hase + Igel”.
