Utz Schäffer holds keynote at Management und Controlling Kongress in Paderborn

The annual congress, organized by Professor Christian Faupel (University of Applied Sciences Ostwestfalen-Lippe), attracts more than one hundred board members, general managers, and specialists from the fields of management and controlling. This year’s congress took place on October 18, 2017 in Paderborn and focused on digitalization, aiming at understanding its impact on controlling in the face of volatility and digital disruption.
In his keynote, Professor Schäffer discussed alarming evidence that most areas of controlling are still unprepared for the digital disruption of the finance function and that controlling has only just begun addressing the challenges involved in handling big data in most companies. According to Schäffer, this places the role and influential power of controlling in a digital world at risk.
