This year, eighteen factories join the World Economic Forum’s Global Lighthouse Network of leaders in applying the technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. In Europe, among others, AGCO/Fendt (Marktoberdorf, Germany) has been welcomed to this exclusive group of advanced manufacturers that are showing leadership in applying the technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution to drive operational and environmental impact.
By combining digital solutions with intelligent line design, AGCO/Fendt can manufacture nine series of tractors – ranging from 72 to 500 horsepower – on a single assembly line with a batch size of one. This has increased productivity by 24% and reduced cycle time by 60%.
Prof. Dr. Arnd Huchzermeier, Dr. Tobias Mönch (Visting Scholar, The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, USA) and Peter Bebersdorf (Plant Manager Tractor Assembly, AGCO/Fendt) have just published a case article and case study on AGCO/Fendt’s Marktoberdorf plant in INFORMS Transaction on Education (the article and case study will be released shortly and is freely available).
