Martin Glaum holds the Chair of International Accounting at WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management. Since 2016, he is also Visiting Professor at Toulouse School of Management.

Martin Glaum’s research focuses on topics in financial management and accounting. He has published numerous articles in international journals, e.g., The Accounting Review, European Accounting Review, Journal of International Accounting Research, Journal of International Business Studies, European Journal of Operations Research. His most recent work is published in Strategic Management Journal and deals with the question how important CEOs are for the performance of their companies (and how one can empirically investigate this question).

Prof. Glaum is active in academic organizations. From 2004 to 2010, he was a member of the Board of Directors of the German Association of Professors of Business Administration (2004 – 2010), from 2010 to 2014 he was a member of the Executive Committee of the International Association of Accounting Education and Research (2010 – 2014), and from 2013 to 2019 he served on the Research Advisory Board of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales.

For many years, Martin Glaum has been working closely with practice. He is the academic chair of the Working Group "Corporate Growth Strategies and International Management" of the Schmalenbach-Gesellschaft für Betriebswirtschaft e.V., which regularly brings together academics and senior executives from large international companies. He works as a consultant and also teaches in corporate development programs. At the WHU, he is the program director of the executive seminar Digitalizing the Finance Function: The CFO Perspective.

Martin Glaum is a member of two corporate supervisory boards, at the Steuler Group, a family firm active in ceramics and engineering with a history of more than 100 years, and at Availy AG, a start-up that develops digital solutions for the management of office spaces.
