The Federal Institute for Sports Science in Germany (BISp) celebrated its 50th anniversary on October 10 – unfortunately in the year of the Corona pandemic. Accordingly, the organizers had switched the celebrations to an online format titled "Sport-Wissen-Schaf(f)t-Erfolg.” As the BISp sees itself as a hub between sports, science, and politics, there was not only a review of half a century of sports history. Professor Dr. Sascha Schmidt, futurologist and Director of the Center for Sports and Management at WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management, also discussed the directions in which sport could develop and the influence that changing values and technological change might have on it.
