This prize for the best dissertation or habilitation has been awarded since 1988 and is endowed with 7,000€. The award ceremony took place during the 12th BME Supply Management Symposium in Mannheim. The BME has almost 10,000 members - from individuals to large companies. The value of the goods and services purchased by its members amounts to around 1.25 trillion euros annually. This corresponds to more than one third of the German gross domestic product. Jörg Rottenburger carried out his research work during his time as a research assistant at the chair of Prof. Dr. Lutz Kaufmann. Prof. Dr. Christian Schlereth acted as second supervisor and a joint publication in the Journal of Supply Chain Management was also published as part of his dissertation.
