Following the appointment to the ambassador council, Prof. Dr. Christian Schlereth will support Deutsche Welthungerhilfe e.V. with his expertise in the future.
Prof. Schlereth has been researching and teaching at WHU - Otto Beisheim School of Management since 2014. He holds the Chair of Digital Marketing and is academic director of WHU's Center for Non-Profit and Digital Social Impact. In his research, Prof. Schlereth aims to quantify the impact of digitalization and its implications for businesses. In the non-profit domain, he deals with topics such as social media P2P fundraising in cooperation with well-known non-profit organizations. Outside the third sector, his other research topics include innovative subscription models, online marketing, and the measurement of customer preferences and decision-making, most of them in cooperation with known organizations and companies in the field. His work has received several awards, including the Schmalenbach Prize, the Horizon Foundation Grant, and three best teaching awards.
The Ambassador Council supports Welthungerhilfe's networks and establishes new contacts with individuals, companies, institutions, and networks, promoting Welthungerhilfe's concerns by profiling it in society at large. The council currently has 27 members and consists of important public figures, such as Dr. Thomas Bellut (Director, ZDFs), Dr. Sabine Mauderer (Board Member at Deutschen Bundesbank), or Anke Schäferkordt (supervisory board member with BMW AG). "Since the start of the pandemic, Welthungerhilfe's mission of a world with zero hunger has become even more important and at the same time far more challenging to reach," comments Christian Schlereth. "I feel honored to be appointed to the council and am looking forward to contributing through my expertise and gathering knowledge from the lessons this new collaboration will provide."
