Kai Wendt moderates DISASTER Game

New research on Distributed-ledger-technology Enabled Sourcing And Strategic Trading

45 students and alumni played for the first time the online simulation game DISASTER GAME (DIstributed-ledger-technology-enabled Sourcing And Strategic Trading Experience Research): in each of 30 rounds, each retailer plays against two other retailers. The total demand exceeds supply – a typical shortage situation like we are facing today for microchips, toilet paper and many more products. The game shows the past ordering behavior so that players can inform themselves about the buying strategy of their opponents. In practice, this will be enabled by blockchain technology which ensures anonymity of the information provided. The results of the game were astounding and will be published shortly. 4 players will receive a 50€ Amazon gift voucher; all players enjoyed playing this game.

The research team consists of Prof. Dr. Arnd Huchzermeier, Professor Volodomyr Babich from Georgetown University in Washington DC, Daniel Hellwig (instructor of the BSc and MSc Blockchain courses) and Kai Wendt.
