On June 26, 2021, the book “Entwickeln Sie Ihre eigene Blockchain -  Ein praktischer Leitfaden zur Distributed Ledger Technologie” ("Develop your own Blockchain - A practical guide to distributed ledger technology") by Daniel Hellwig, Goran Karlic and Prof. Dr. Arnd Huchzermeier was published. The English version of the Springer book has already been downloaded more than 12k times.

This book provides a comprehensive introduction to blockchain and distributed ledger technology. It is a guide for practitioners and contains detailed examples and explanations on how to build and operate a blockchain from scratch. Through its conceptual background and practical exercises, this book enables students, teachers, and crypto enthusiasts to start their first blockchain, assuming prior knowledge of the underlying technology.

How do I build a blockchain? How do I mint a cryptocurrency? How do I write a smart contract? How do I launch an initial coin offering (ICO)? These are some of the questions this book answers. Starting with the beginnings and development of early cryptocurrencies, it describes the conceptual foundations for developing secure software. Topics include consensus algorithms, mining, and decentralization.

"This is a unique book on blockchain technology. The authors have struck the perfect balance between breadth of topics and depth of technical discussion. But the real gem is the collection of carefully curated practical exercises that guide the reader through the process of building a blockchain starting from Chapter 1." Volodymyr Babich, Professor of Operations and Information Management, McDonough School of Business, Georgetown University

"An excellent introduction to DLT technology for a non-technical audience. The book is packed with examples and exercises that make learning the underlying processes of blockchain technology much easier for everyone from students to entrepreneurs." Serguei Netessine, Dhirubhai Ambani Professor of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania
