The award for the best dissertation is presented annually by the German Association for Supply Chain Management, Procurement, and Logistics (BME) since 1988 and comes with a cash prize of €7,000. The 2019 award was given to Jörg during the 12th BME Supply Management symposium in Mannheim.
The BME has almost 10,000 individual and corporate members - from small businesses to large companies. The purchasing volume of its members adds up to €1.25 trillion, or more than one third of Germany’s GDP.
Jörg R. Rottenburger wrote his dissertation during his time as a research assistant at the chair of Professor Lutz Kaufmann. His second supervisor was Professor Christian Schlereth. It was the third time that a doctoral student from the team of Professor Lutz Kaufmann won this prestigious national research award for doctoral dissertations.
