On October 8, the WHU Campus Düsseldorf hosted the event format “StartingUp in Düsseldorf” for the second time. It was organized by the WHU Entrepreneurship Center in cooperation with the law company Orrick, Düsseldorf.

Over the last years, the startup ecosystem in Düsseldorf has been growing significantly. With its vast corporate landscape, dense population and friendly governmental policies, the city offers an ideal environment for new venture creation. “StartingUp in Düsseldorf” gave students, alumni and other interested participants the opportunity to learn more about how and why Düsseldorf is an interesting region for launching your own startup.

Dr. Monika Hauck, managing director of the WHU Entrepreneurship Center, held a welcome speech and talked about the startup ecosystem in Düsseldorf. In an interactive discussion, Dr. Sven Greulich, partner of Orrick Law Firm provided an overview of legal considerations for early stage founders. In addition, Cristiano Estrada presented his startup CABASUS and gave insights into his entrepreneurial journey from being an international student to founding his own company in Düsseldorf.

The event also provided a platform for early-stage or aspiring founders to pitch their ideas and gather feedback and advice from experts and their peers. Five exciting startup ideas were pitched, ranging from sustainable fashion and legal coaching to the pet care platform and an international student platform. The evening ended with a get-together, which offered an opportunity to network and co-founder search.
