Guest lecture on the digitalization of controlling at Bayer

Philipp Ahrendt, Head of Financial Modeling & Analytics at Corporate Controlling, and Dr. Philipp Plank, Head of Decision Science for Corporate Functions, gave a guest lecture in Professor Dr. Utz Schäffer's MSc course Advanced Management Accounting & Control.

How is the role of the controller changing in light of the fundamental digital transformation in companies and the economy? What skills and role profiles do controllers need in the digital finance function? And how can rational executive decision-making be ensured?

These questions and problems were explored by Philipp Ahrendt and Dr. Philipp Plank from Bayer during their guest lecture on November 26. Based on Bayer's strategy for digitizing the finance function, the two presented possible solutions and associated processes. They addressed the role and skills profile of controllers and offered exciting operational and strategic implementation examples to the students.

Thank you, Philipp Ahrendt and Dr. Philipp Plank, for the interesting lecture and the many inspiring ideas and insights!
