On Monday, the Committee for Labor and Social Affairs of the German Bundestag invited Professor Dr. Christian Hagist of WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management as an expert. The hearing was brought on due to six different proposals concerning pension insurance by the opposition parties AfD, Die Linke, and Bündnis 90/Die Grünen. Professor Hagist, Chair of Economic and Social Policy, stated his opinion on the aforementioned proposals.
The parties' proposals deal, among other things, with voluntary additional payments into statutory pension insurance. In addition, they concern the recognition of pension entitlements of citizens who lived in the GDR, and a permanent stabilization of the pension level for long-time contributors. The hearing before the Committee for Labor and Social Affairs was chaired by Dr. Matthias Bartke of SPD.
The debate was broadcasted one day later on parliamentary television and can now be watched.
