MBA Program

MBA students coach the next generation

WHU collaborates with ISR Neuss to offer mentoring sessions for high school students.

Students of the MBA programs of WHU - Otto Beisheim School of Management in Düsseldorf will be coaching high school students of the International School on the Rhine (ISR): Part of the cooperation will be a job application training as well as comprehensive support in study and career choices.

"Since these decisions are particularly difficult in an increasingly complex world, we have now decided to launch a new offer for our students in grades 10 to 12, in cooperation with WHU - Otto Beisheim School of Management," explains Emil Cete, Head of the secondary school and IB coordinator of the ISR.

In order not to leave the students of the ISR in the jungle of the vast offer of study subjects and training possibilities alone, the new cooperation between school and business school offers a varied program of events throughout the school year. The primary goal is to continuously bring high school students together with WHU students in 1: 1 mentoring situations. This includes, for example, a career coaching, which is led by the experienced MBA students. A lecture series with renowned university professors completes the educational and coaching program for the students. Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Klaus Brockhoff, Deputy Chairman of the WHU Foundation, initiated the lecture series with a lecture on the subject of "Distributive Justice."

"Our students get the chance to accompany a high school student on his development and decision-making path, to listen and to exchange ideas. Maybe to leave existing thinking patterns and sometimes to think outside the box. This pilot project is certainly an interesting experience for both sides. As an institution, we are delighted to assist with our experiences from the various fields, cooperations, and situations,” Jürgen Weigand, Deputy Dean and Associate Dean Academic Programs of WHU.

The kick-off event of the WHU / ISR mentoring program took place on October 23 on the WHU Campus Düsseldorf in the Schwanenhöfe.
