Außerplanmäßige Professorin will be awarded to Dr. Katrin Baedorf

Head of the Dean’s Office distinguishes herself through her multifaceted commitment to WHU

Dr. Katrin Baedorf, Head of the Dean’s Office at WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management and lecturer in Finance, will be awarded the title "Außerplanmäßige Professorin". The business school’s Senate reached this decision after a recommendation from the advisory committee and approval from the Ministry of Education.

Katrin Baedorf constantly proves her value for WHU in all required areas – teaching, research, and a variety of other achievements for the school. She worked as an Assistant Professor of Finance/Private Banking since 2009 and became Director at the Center of Private Banking/Asset and Wealth Management in 2014. After that, in 2018, Katrin Baedorf became Director of the Dean’s Office being responsible for key areas to develop the school’s strategy and support the running business of the school. Since 2009, she has held numerous courses and lectures at WHU. These were consistently rated at a very high level by participants. She currently teaches one course in the Global Online MBA program ("Managerial Finance") and one course in the undergraduate program ("Foundations of Finance"). In addition, Dr. Baedorf has taught in the Master's program ("Behavioral Finance") as well as in Executive Education ("Finance Fundamentals", "WHU on Finance").

Katrin Baedorf also showed her dedication to research in the past, demonstrating her ability to work scientifically both in her doctoral studies and as an Assistant Professor. Beyond this, she exemplified her research efforts as Director at the Center for Private Banking/Asset and Wealth Management. In addition, she has acquired and led the EU-funded research project „Visualisierungskonzept für die Digitale Anlageberatung“ (VikoDiaA) on behalf of WHU.

Her ongoing commitment in recent years has provided extensive value to WHU. She continuously contributes to a better integration of theory and practice and maintains excellent contacts in the financial industry. As Head of the Dean’s Office, Dr. Baedorf supports the integration of academia and business in a myriad of ways. Among other things, she also plays a key role in the strategic development of the business school and supports the establishment and implementation of new study programs.
