As in previous years, the WHU Campus for Family Business (presented in German) aims to take the latest insights from both research and practice, present them at keynote speeches, and discuss them at panels and interactive workshops. For 2022, the event will revolve around the role of business-owning families, the potential for their influence to become a real competitive advantage, and whether these families represent a chance for more diversity or, conversely, more conflict.
A business-owning family indeed does offer opportunities for diversity: Shared values and goals, combined with generations-old knowledge and experience, acts as an invaluable foundation for discussions concerning long-term business decisions. That being said, family dynamics can also lead to conflict, which poses major challenges to the family in question—and can have far-reaching consequences for the business. The 2022 Campus for Family Business plans to address these key topics, including the professionalization of business-owning families, family governance, and promoting shareholder competence.
It’s time for all those interested to save the date! The event will be held in Vallendar and start on September 16, with a pre-event program planned for the 15th. Tickets are on sale now, and we will update you on the agenda promptly. We are looking forward to the kind of familial and constructive exchange we’ve come to expect at these events.
