In near full attendance, teachers, children, and parents from the Catholic daycare center in the Beulsweg gathered together on September 2, 2022 to say goodbye to their old classrooms and beloved garden. WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management has purchased the kindergarten space, formerly under the stewardship of the St. Marcellinus and Petrus parish, from the city of Vallendar. For the celebration, the kids had prepared a large, symbolic key made of wood, which Dr. Winfried Scholz, Chairman of the Pfarreien- und Verwaltungsrats [Parochial Council and Board of Directors], gave to Peter Christ, the Head of Administration at WHU.

Manager Petra Gerhartz noted that the group will assuredly miss their beautiful chestnut tree and garden. That being said, both the team and the children are excited about their brand new facility in Wildburg. Despite the rooms now sitting empty, the mood at the event was nothing even close to somber. Rather, there was an atmosphere of joy that day, driven home in particular by the gaggle of young kids, who sang humorous songs for the crowd.

“Use of the facility will continue throughout the fall, at least until plans for further use of the land itself are agreed upon,” Peter Christ told the group. According to him, WHU does have a need for more rooms, as the school wants to continue expanding.
