A special honor has recently been bestowed on WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management alumni Florian Heinemann (D 1999) and Uwe Horstmann (BSc Class of 2008): They, along with several other business personalities, have made it onto the list of “People of the Year for 2021,” which is issued by the newspaper Handelsblatt. Both alumni are general partners at venture capitalist “Project A” in Berlin. In the past, they had been early investors in various startups and were often able to generate high returns. For example, Trade Republic, Kry, and Sennder reached a market valuation of more than one billion US dollars in 2021, and thus have attained the status of a so-called “unicorn.” Their investments show that Heinemann’s and Horstmann’s analyses, together with Project A, are very valuable, resulting in early investments in those promising startups. For this reason, they were ranked among of the most important startup investors in 2021.
