QS World University Rankings Assess Three Study Programs

WHU keeps excellent position among international universities and business schools

WHU - Otto Beisheim School of Management has once again managed to claim outstanding results in the QS World University Rankings. The now published results of the QS Ranking 2021 show the analyses of the MBA, Master in Finance, and Master in Management programs. The global QS Ranking is based on information from more than 37,000 employers, almost 35,000 scientists, and close to 28,000 alumni.


For the MBA, WHU was able to significantly improve its good position from the QS Ranking 2020. Among the 258 MBA programs that have been considered worldwide, the business school managed to advance another eight steps to  place 58. The detailed analysis shows that the alumni's investment in the program was worthwhile. In the subcategory "Return on Investment", WHU took eighth place among all programs.

Master in Finance

Hardly any changes were to be found for the Master in Finance program compared to last year's assessment. WHU was ranked 23rd out of 166 programs evaluated, highlighting that WHU scored particularly well in the subcategory "Alumni Outcomes". Here, the business school is ranked seventh among other universities worldwide. “Alumni Outcomes” provides answers on which university yields the most successful employers and employees, and how strong the positive influence of the program is on the development of the respective alumni.

Master in Management  

Additionally, WHU achieved 17th place of 148 Master in Management programs. It is, thus in the top 11 percent share of such programs internationally. In this category, "Alumni Outcomes" was also rated as outstanding (3rd place). Ranking 8th in the subcategory of "Value for Money", WHU reached another great result there in comparison to other business schools and universities.

For the annual QS World University Rankings, programs are evaluated in five categories: Class & Faculty Diversity, Employability, Entrepreneurship & Alumni Outcomes, Return on Investment (or Value for Money) and Thought Leadership. Overall, it was found that WHU scored particularly well in the scope of successful alumni and the value for money of the programs. Meanwhile, the diversity of the students can still be seen as an opportunity to improve.
