Successful Women in Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises

Federal Award honors female managing directors and entrepreneurs

For the second time, the Institute of Family Business & Mittelstand at WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management and the Women's Council of Rhineland-Palatinate have now awarded a federal prize to female managing directors, founders, and successors of SMEs. The award "Successful Women in SMEs" honors female entrepreneurs in companies with 50 to 500 employees for their outstanding engagement in sustainable and future-oriented corporate management, for promoting the compatibility of work and family life, or for successful company succession in the past six years.

This year's winning prize was awarded to Cornelia Lamberty, founder of the media agency moccamedia in Rhineland-Palatinate. The jury also honored Claudia Lässig, managing partner of the Hessian textile and fashion company LÄSSIG, and Anne Feulner, successor of the Bavarian Maintal Konfitüren GmbH. In addition to the prize, they also received handmade jewelry from a medium-sized goldsmith. Three other female entrepreneurs were awarded special prizes.

The goal of the award "Successful Women in SMEs" is to draw more attention to the role of women in management positions and their merits in SMEs. WHU is co-initiator of the prize and is represented in the jury by Professor Dr. Nadine Kammerlander. Her research results, for instance, show that mixed management teams are better for corporate success than purely male-dominated boardrooms.
