ACMAR 2022 – Summer Edition
After two years of being limited to virtual academic exchange, the hosts - the faculty of the Institute of Management and Controlling (IMC) at WHU - Otto Beisheim School of Management, Professor Marko Reimer, Professor Utz Schäffer, Assistant Professor Lukas Löhlein, and Assistant Professor Daniel Schaupp – and all participants were pleased that the 19th Annual Conference for Management Accounting Research (ACMAR) could this year take place again in presence on the campus in Vallendar. In order to make this possible, the conference was moved from March to June at the beginning of the year.
From June 2-3, more than 110 scholars from the academic management accounting community from around the world gathered in Parallel Sessions, Round Table Sessions, and Keynote Presentations to discuss current research trends, exchange ideas, and foster interaction between young and experienced researchers.
The two conference days were characterized by lively exchange and a relaxed atmosphere. In addition to the official formats, the supporting program with joint lunches and dinners provided ample space for informal discussions and numerous in-person reunions.
Three exciting, highly topical keynote speeches by Martin Messner (professor for controlling and accounting at the University of Innsbruck), Adam Pradela (Executive Vice President Corporate Accounting & Controlling at Deutsche Post DHL Group), and Theresa Libby (EY Professor of Accounting and Director of the Kenneth G. Dixon School of Accounting at the University of Central Florida College of Business) framed the program.
As in the previous years, a Doctoral Colloquium was offered on the day before the official start of the conference. This year, nine young researchers from different international universities presented their research projects and received feedback from the faculty, including Martin Messner, Stephan Kramer, and Utz Schäffer.
Thank you to all participants for this lively and inspiring conference. We look forward to joining the management accounting community again on March 8-9, 2023, for the next ACMAR in Vallendar.
