Ibrahim Memis Wins 2023 CIO Young Talent Award

The winner to receive a full scholarship for WHU’s Part-Time MBA Program

Five promising talents from the field of IT competed for this year’s CIO Young Talent Award. This coveted honor from the CIO Stiftung [CIO Foundation] is coupled with a particularly valuable prize: a full scholarship for the Part-Time MBA Program at WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management. During the exciting final round held at the school’s campus in Düsseldorf on July 6, 2023, Ibrahim Memis, Head of Cyber and Information Security at mechanical engineering firm the Beumer Group, came out ahead of his competition.

“Ibrahim Memis was able to stand out in a rather illustrious group of participants, and that left an impression on the judges of the CIO Young Talent Award,” said Stefan Huegel, Chairman of the CIO Stiftung’s Advisory Board. “The CIO Stiftung wishes Ibrahim a lot of success with his scholarship for the Part-Time MBA Program at WHU.” In the finale, Memis went up against top talents from prominent companies. The finalists were (in alphabetical order) Viktoria Hoffmann (Vitesco), Andreas Klassen (Albrecht Jung), Christina Nadler (ALDI Nord), and Lukas Weiss (Siemens AG). All of them had one-on-one interviews with members of the jury. And apart from their professional resumé and expertise, their character and communicative skills were at the core of their evaluation. “This year again, many CIOs sent their star performers to compete, showing just how committed the CIO community is to the next generation,” said Dr. Peter Kreutter, also a member of the Advisory Board as well as Managing Director Foundations and Director Development & Relationship Management at WHU.

Since 2011, the CIO Stiftung has been honoring outstanding young talent in the field of IT through its CIO Young Talent Award. Winners receive a full scholarship to the Part-Time MBA Program at WHU. This year’s jury was made up of five judges: Sabine Reuss (Chief Marketing & Communications Officer at Capgemini), Julia Wiesermann (previous winner of the CIO Young Talent Award), David Preuss (Chief Operating Officer at Assaia), Frank Hoe (CIO at L’Oreal and alumnus of the Kellogg-WHU EMBA Program), and Stefan Huegel (Foundry).

The official award ceremony will see all the winners and finalists gather at the CIO of the Year Gala in October 2023.
