Our admissions and application process.
1. Start your application online via our online portal
To begin the application process, simply click here. Once you are logged in, you will be presented with further information on filling out various fields and uploading the required supporting documents. You do not have to complete the online application all at once - at any time during the application process, you may take a break, save the information you have entered, and come back to it later. Below, you will find detailed information on our admission requirements.
For our Master in Management Program, we seek recent Bachelor graduates with a degree in business or economics.
Applicants with at least 80 ECTS credits in Business Administration (including courses in accounting, finance, marketing, and management) are also welcome to apply. Candidates should be aware that prior academic knowledge in mathematics, statistics, and economics is also required.
It is possible to apply with your current Transcript of Records from your Bachelor's studies, should you not have received your Bachelor's degree yet. Please include a document that indicates courses that are not included in the transcript that you are currently taking or will take in the future.
We recommend having 20 weeks (800 hours) of practical experience which has to be completed in a business-related role.
This program is open to candidates with a maximum of two years of post-graduate work experience.
You can submit internship certificates or a letter from HR, which include your name, start and end date, your title, and a short description of your duties and responsibilities. The document should be issued on official company stationery, with a stamp and signature.
Missing practical experience can be completed by August 31, 2022. Please contact the Admissions Team in case of questions.
You are welcome to submit one of the following:
- TOEFL iBT (internet-based) test with an overall score of at least 100 (WHU Code: 0682)
- A score of 105 is recommended due to the requirements of some of our partner universities for the semester abroad

Proof of English proficiency is not required if your first language is English, or your Bachelor program was completed entirely in English. In this case, proof from your university is required.
Applicants for the Master in Management Program are required to prove excellent analytical and quantitative skills. This can be demonstrated by a strong GMAT/GRE/TM-Base score. Our Admissions Team may decide to waive the GMAT/GRE/TM-Base requirement upon review of your application. You must first apply to the program with all relevant supporting application documents in order to be considered for a waiver.
- GMAT score of at least 600 (WHU Code: FBR-FH-93)
- GRE of at least 158 Verbal and 158 Quantitative
- TM-BASE of at least 102 (must be completed in English. Please sign up for the test at the TM-WISO Website)
The GMAT, GRE and the TM-BASE are also offered as online exams allowing you to take the test from home.
It is recommended to submit a GMAT/GRE/TM-BASE score with your application. However, you can apply for the program without the GMAT/GRE/TM-BASE score, and our Admissions Team will still review your application. You would only receive a conditional study offer if you successfully complete the WHU Admissions Process without receiving a GMAT/GRE/TM-BASE waiver. The offer would be unconditional upon submission of your required GMAT/GRE/TM-BASE official score.
If you are interested in our Double Degree Programs, please be aware that our partner universities might only accept the GMAT.
As international experience, we accept internships abroad, language courses, semesters abroad, summer schools, or high school exchange years in non-German speaking countries. This requirement is only for citizens of German-speaking areas, such as Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.
