FAQs to WHU's MBA Programs

Program Information

The MBA program has been designed for young professionals who have gained 2-5 years of professional experience in various sectors, who have either decided to change industry, develop their entrepreneurial skills or want to assume a management position within their company.

The Full-Time MBA Program starts in April and September, the Part-Time MBA Program starts in September.

Yes, three international modules of one week each are included in the Concentrations module. Currently we cooperate with partner universities in the US (KELLOGG, Chicago in the Full-Time MBA Program and Columbia Business School, New York in the Part-Time MBA Program), in China (CEIBS, Shanghai) and in India (IIMB, Bangalore). The international modules are tailor-made and taught by senior faculty of the hosting partner universities.

International guest lecturers and executives of successful international companies are regular visitors to our MBA program.

The MBA classes have a maximum number of 45 participants.

Yes, the program is accredited by FIBAA, EQUIS and AACSB.

All courses in the MBA program as well as in the international modules are taught in English. No German language skills are required but German classes are offered to those students who want to study German during their MBA studies.

The tuition fee for the Full-Time MBA Program is € 37,800. The tuition fee for the Part-Time MBA is € 40.800.

Information for taxpayers in Germany: the tuition fees for the MBA Program as well as study-related costs (incl. travel and accommodation) are tax deductible as anticipated professional expenses. For detailed information please contact your legal tax advisor.

Student Loans : Our local saving bank (Sparkasse) grants loans to national WHU students; international students on request.

Application & Admission

  • A first degree (Bachelor or equivalent)
  • Two years postgraduate work experience and MBA Questionnaire
  • Completed online application form and MBA Questionnaire
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Official transcipts and degree certificates of all colleges, universities, and professional school attended
  • One letter of recommendation from professors or supervisors (word /pdf). Please send us the letter of recommendation in a sealed envelope or ask the referee to e-mail it to mba(at)whu.edu from his personal business e-mail account.
  • TOEFL (min. 100 IBT) or equivalent IELTS (7.0), if English is not your native language. The WHU TOEFL recipient code is: 0682.
  • GMAT score (A minimum score of 600 is recommended) or equivalent GRE. The WHU GMAT recipient code is FBR-FH-02, the WHU GRE recepient code is 7175.

Yes, both tests are required. The GMAT is mandatory; the TOEFL test can be waived after the personal interviews but is sometimes required for visa purposes.

As applications are accepted on a rolling basis, you may apply to the program at any time; however, we strongly encourage potential candidates to apply as early as possible since places are limited. Admissions to the program will be given approx. two weeks after the personal interview.

Miscellaneous

Yes, the career service department organizes recruiting events for more than 60 companies on campus every year. Company presentations, career days, career markets and informal dinner conversations all contribute to successful networking.

A Online Resume Database with the resumes of our graduating MBA students is published every year and is made available to more than 130 selected international companies. Companies then contact candidates whom they would like to meet.

Living costs for Full-Time MBA students are approximately € 750-800 per month, housing included.

Yes, of course! You are welcome to schedule an individual appointment for a campus visit. This personal visit gives you the chance to attend an MBA lecture (if compatible with our schedule), meet our current MBA students, go on an accompanied campus tour and have a personal study advisory with our MBA-Team. In order to fix an appointment for a personal visit, please contact us by email or by phone – we will ask you to send us your CV for a first verification of your application chances before confirming your visit.
