A guide to the most important questions about the MBA program
There are many aspects that speak in favor of a Master of Business Administration (MBA). Here you’ll learn for whom the program is best suited, what benefits the degree offers, and what requirements applicants need to fulfill.

For whom is the Master of Business Administration best suited?

It appears you are looking for information about an MBA degree program and perhaps you’re wondering, Who needs an MBA, and when does it make sense to pursue an MBA? We want to answer these two questions for you here first.

The Master of Business Administration (MBA) is an internationally structured management degree program leading to the awarding of a master’s degree and qualifying its holder to enter the Doctoral Program. The WHU MBA Program paves the way for people who are pursuing a management or executive position in their career, or who wish to qualify for a higher office in public service.

Which MBA is best suited for me?

An alternative is to take the part-time MBA program, which runs over the course of 24 months. Most of the courses in this program are held on weekends. It is designed for those looking for a way to combine their career and studies.

Apart from the two-year part-time option, WHU also offers a full-time MBA program, allowing students to complete the degree in just twelve months.

During the first five months of the MBA program at WHU, you’ll take the following three core modules:

You can then put together your choice of specialized modules for your own area of concentration. The program also offers international modules in India, China, and the United States.

How long does the MBA program last?

WHU offers the MBA program in two different formats. The standard duration of the Part-Time Program, which is held in the evenings or on the weekends, is generally two years. There are other models, such as the Full-Time MBA Program, which allows you to complete the MBA degree in just one year.

What are the admissions requirements for MBA programs?

Since the MBA program constitutes a master’s degree program, your application must include evidence of a Bachelor’s degree. You also must submit your official results from the internationally recognized GMAT and TOEFL assessment tests. However, the individual admissions requirements vary from school to school, so it’s best to check on the specific enrollment criteria at each school you are considering. See the WHU admissions requirements here.

What does an MBA degree program cost?

Besides your investment of time, an MBA program also involves a financial investment. So, your choice of university should be considered carefully. Depending on the university and place of study, the costs can amount to between €8,000 and €50,000. At WHU, applicants for an MBA degree can choose between the Full-Time Program, amounting to €40,500, and the Part-Time Program, amounting to €43,000. There are also a number of financing options.

What financing options are available?

For one, student loans are offered by banks and similar financial institutions. For another, there are a variety of scholarships offered by the university or public organizations. Some businesses even support their employees who pursue part-time studies, assisting with their tuition costs.

Furthermore, WHU offers an early-bird discount of €5,000 or €3,000 if you complete your application in advance, either eight or six months before beginning the program.

How do I benefit from an MBA program?

Our alumni and our academic advising services are often asked if an MBA program really pays off, and what it is good for. We’re able to answer these questions quite specifically in the meantime.

Regardless of how satisfied you are with your particular situation in life, it’s often a question of mindset – if you want to practice lifelong learning and keep up with the times. Many alumni from the WHU MBA Program tell us that the program not only gave them the relevant know-how but helped them develop the right mindset for future challenges.

After all, an MBA degree not only helps you double your salary, but – more importantly and invaluably – it expands your personal horizon of experience. It also helps you establish a wide range of international contacts and expand your global network over the course of your studies. Completing your MBA degree opens up doors for management and executive positions. Your earned degree enables you to pursue entirely new paths or enhance your existing career with the new knowledge you’ve gained.

The benefits of the MBA program boil down to these: expanding your horizon, increasing your salary, and establishing contacts around the world.
