On June 22, this year’s graduates of the Full-Time MBA Class of 2018 I and the Part-Time MBA Class of 2018 celebrated the successful completion of their studies at Kunstpalast Düsseldorf.
Family and friends as well as WHU professors and students came together in the festive ball room to celebrate the successful completion of the MBA programs by graduates representing more than 13 nations and various different fields of expertise.
Right from the start of their studies at WHU the students had transformed into a perfect team: During the Future Leaders Fundraising Challenge, the young managers had to overcome creative challenges and collect donations for Save the Children projects under enormous time pressure. The 21 students on the FT MBA Program collected more than 14,000 euros; their 43 fellow students on the PT MBA Program worked together with the FT MBA Class of 2017, resulting in donations of more than 63,000 euros. After having completed more than 1000 academic hours consisting of seminars and lectures, interactive workshops and international modules, the 64 graduates had every reason to be proud of their achievements and gladly accepted their diplomas.
The graduates’ happiness was shared by two professors who were honored for their extraordinary commitment with the “Best Teacher Awards” by the students themselves: this year’s award went to Professor Dr. Lutz Kaufmann and Professor Dr. Garen Markarian, who were overjoyed to receive the honors. the celebratory speech was held by alumna Susanne Cornelius, who graduated from WHU in 1993 and is now Vice President at Douglas Cosmetics.
While graduation marked the end of their studies it did not conclude the graduates’ journey together. During their time at WHU many students developed meaningful friendships for life. The will to make a change in the world and the belief, that this goal is more easily reachable together, is what united the Class of 2018 as a team.
