Opening of Art Exhibition: “Interna”

A festive vernissage on March 31 marked the opening of another exhibition in the “Kunst@WHU” [Art@WHU] series. From March 31 to June 25, 2017, this group exhibition, entitled “Interna,” features works by the group PHOTO5plus.

Klaus Friedrich, WHU alumnus and co-organizer of Kunst@WHU, opened the evening with an introduction to WHU and the importance of the Kunst@WHU series as an extracurricular activity for the region. Wolfgang Zurborn, of the Lichtblick School in Cologne, provided the artistic introduction to the vernissage. His remarks began by noting that the most important part of photography was its dialog with the world. He stressed the very different photographic approaches within the PHOTO5plus group, whose works oscillate between document and personal diary, between fiction and realities. But it was precisely these different approaches to work – featuring a very complex interest in very personal views of the world – that accounted for the quality of the group, Zurborn emphasized.

The numerous guests in attendance had an opportunity to visit with the artists directly during a subsequent tour of the exhibition.

“Kunst@WHU” is a project of the WHU Campus Düsseldorf and Galerie Rahmenwerkstatt Ringel in Düsseldorf. The new show, “Interna,” is a group exhibition of works by Susanne Hartmann, Stefan Kögel, Stefanie Minzenmay, Tilman Neubert, Frank Szafinski and Juliane Wende, all members of the PHOTO5plus group. In addition to the very different series of images by the individual photo artists, the group also presents the collaborative work entitled “Blicke” [Views], a wall installation designed specifically for the exhibition at WHU. The exhibition can be visited from March 31 through June 25, 2017, Monday to Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (last admission at 5:30 p.m.). Visitors are also welcome to reserve individual visits and guided tours. For contact information, go to

About the artists:

PHOTO5plus is a group consisting of six photographic artists: Susanne Hartmann, Stefan Kögel, Stefanie Minzenmay, Tilman Neubert, Frank Szafinski and Juliane Wende. As former enrollees in annual classes at the School for Artistic Photography in Düsseldorf, the photographers have engaged in an ongoing photographic and artistic exchange since 2014.

WHU looks forward to an interesting exhibition, with numerous visitors interested in art visiting their premises at the “Schwanenhöfen” in Düsseldorf.
