WHU - Otto Beisheim School of Management and SPORTTOTAL AG have signed a cooperation agreement. Central topics of the cooperation are joint research projects and the scientific support of sporttotal.tv by the Center for Sports and Management of the WHU in Düsseldorf. Initially, the cooperation is scheduled until December 31, 2019.
Sporttotal.tv equips amateur clubs in Germany from the fourth-highest division downwards with a special technology that allows football matches to be broadcasted live fully automatically and in high quality. The viewer can, for instance via the app (for free in the store), determine the perspective, direct the games by himself and share scenes on social media platforms. In addition, sporttotal.tv cooperates with the amateur football portal FUSSBALL.DE, which is operated by the DFB and its regional associations. The heart of sporttotal.tv is a unique 180-degree camera technology that is permanently installed on the pitch. The special innovation of the system is its software, which is able to follow the game fully automated - without a chip in the ball or in the jersey of a player. As a founding partner, Allianz Deutschland AG, Deutsche Post AG and Telekom Deutschland are supporting sporttotal.tv gmbh. BILD is a media partner and has already started a weekly highlight show on the games prepared by sporttotal.tv for the second half of 2016/2017.
"The scientific support of building sporttotal.tv is one of the most exciting ventures in the international sports business right now. We are proud to work together with SPORTTOTAL AG and its partners for the long term and we are delighted to be able to experience the further development of sportotal.tv first hand and to accompany it scientifically," Professor Dr. Sascha L. Schmidt, Director of the Center for Sports and Management at WHU said about the cooperation agreement.
A sentiment shared by Peter Lauterbach, CEO of SPORTTOTAL AG: "SPORTTOTAL AG wants to sustainably support WHU's research efforts. We are very pleased to have partnered with the Center for Sports and Management and the WHU as one of Europe's leading business schools, to scientifically accompany building up our streaming portal sporttotal.tv. WHU's research will greatly strengthen the medialization of amateur sports over the next few years. "
