The economy and society are changing radically as a result of digitalization. Established business models are being discarded, while new ones are emerging. Conventional process systems are failing due to the high degree of change. Agility is key.
But what does this mean for controllers? Professor Dr. Utz Schäffer and Professor Dr. Jürgen Weber, Directors of the Institute of Management Accounting and Control (IMC) at WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management see a need for them to change radically too. The two professors recently developed an agenda for controllers to help them meet this challenge. They have now illustrated their findings in a video using a computer game metaphor.
It takes a playful approach to outline the steps that should be taken in order to successfully support management in a digital economy and society. The next level is within reach – but it will not be easy to get there!
