Professor Dr. Martin Fassnacht and Professor Dr. Holger Ernst were selected among the most influential economic researchers in the German-speaking world
In their recently published 2017 economist ranking, the Frankfurt Allgemeine Zeitung elects economists that have had the strongest influence on public life in Germany. This year, two WHU professors join the prestigious list. “The economist ranking primarily highlights political economists. The fact that two business economists from WHU were selected is an extraordinary accomplishment”, says Professor Dr. Markus Rudolf, Dean of WHU.
Since 2013, the FAZ’s economist ranking has been annually recording the performance of economists from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland in terms of research, media, and policy advice. To be considered, economic researchers must be able to show a significant influence in at least two examined fields, according to FAZ. The researchers must have made a lasting impression in both research and in the public.
WHU’s Professor Dr. Martin Fassnacht ranks 55 out of 122 examined researchers. He is one of just four business economists selected among the 100 most influential economic researchers. Professor Fassnacht is the Chair of the Department of Marketing and Commerce. Throughout the time examined by the FAZ economist ranking, he has been actively involved in research and has been regularly lending his expertise to the media on current commerce questions.
Professor Dr. Holger Ernst is also listed among the top economists by FAZ in the research category. He heads the Chair of Technology and Innovation Management (TIM) at WHU and to date, has been cited in 1410 research papers.
