On September 16, 2017, for the 9th time WHU welcomed back its alumni at Campus Vallendar as part of the traditional WHU Alumni Homecoming. More than 130 former WHU students from the graduating classes of 1992, 1997, 2002, 2007 and 2012 seized the opportunity to return to their alma mater to meet up with former classmates and friends.
The alumni spent a diverting afternoon together at Burgplatz and Marienpark. During student guided campus tours alumni of all classes were happy to see the changes at the Vallendar campus, especially the new In Praxi Learning Center (IP-C) that was inaugurated last year with its Family Business lecture hall, Zalando lounge and audibene reading room.
Afterwards, a rum tasting with Volker Rapolder from “Daddy O’s Cocktailbar” Koblenz took place at the IP-C cafeteria. The alumni created WHU collages in an ArtNight workshop with Andernach based artist Dr. Christina Schiller. Next to these activities, the alumni shot two WHU short movies with self-written scripts as part of a movie project.
All participants came together in the Family Business lecture hall at the IP-C for the traditional campus update with Professor Dr. Markus Rudolf, Dean of WHU. Professor Dr. Rudolf gave an overview of the development of the WHU programs and the strategic orientation of the Business School. He focused on WHU’s core competencies diversity, internationalization and entrepreneurship, and explained in detail the methodology and importance of national and international university rankings. The WHU Alumni Homecoming 2017 officially ended with a festive dinner and get-together in the Vaulted Cellar.
