WHU Mourns the Loss of Brigitte Weisbrod

WHU - Otto Beisheim School of Management mourns the loss of Brigitte Weisbrod. Together with her husband Josef, Brigitte Weisbrod was the good soul of the WHU community for more than a decade. The Korova Bar in Hellenstraße, which was run by the spouses, was an integral part of the Vallendar campus and the two owners were popular with students, alumni, faculty members and administrative staff alike.

Brigitte Weisbrod not only served coffee and beer in her Korova Bar, she also offered a cosy, family retreat in the sometimes stressful everyday life of the university. Whether for a soothing cup of coffee before the exams, at the legendary Tauschie-Tuesday or during regular football broadcasts, Brigitte and Josef Weisbrod always greeted the WHU community with open arms and vehemently defended the students in Hellenstraße should it get a little louder. In return, both were always guests of honor at WHU events with fixed seats in the first row at theater performances and benefit concerts. The Korova Bar was even mentioned by name in the English edition of the Financial Times - it was mentioned by WHU students as a special aspect of their satisfaction with their studies in Vallendar.

The news of Brigitte Weisbrod's death hit the WHU community very hard. It leaves a large gap in Vallendar. Her commitment to WHU and the proverbial WHU spirit will certainly remain unforgotten.
